Just some Western tour dates
and a new video
Back in February, I popped into the Rope Room in Astoria, Oregon and recorded alternate versions of a couple songs from Old Trails. Nevada Sowle, who first toured with me in 2016, played piano and ran the session. Tyler Little shot some gorgeous video. Winter light at the mouth of the Columbia is hard to beat.
I spent March on a solo tour through Santa Fe, Tulsa, and Texas that ended in New Orleans. In New Orleans, I walked by the house where Bob Dylan made Oh Mercy. I went to dinner with my parents, who were in the middle of a long, retirement-inspired RV trip that took them all the way to Savannah. I played one show beneath banana trees and another beneath a tiger kite I found at a yard sale next to Garrett T Capps’ house in San Antonio. I ate beignets every day for five days straight. My wife flew into Louis Armstrong International Airport and we started another tour, opening for the Wood Brothers at Tipitina’s. I turned 37 years old in New Orleans, where I also turned 35. As Garrett T Capps sang: “Life is strange… but it’s cool.”
In a couple weeks we start another tour. The dates below are a mix of Margo shows I’m playing guitar on, my own shows, and a poetry workshop I’m hosting for the first time. Hope to see you out there.

This is so lovely. The slowed tempo, the echoey piano tone and the spare guitar give it an entirely new personality. Beautiful. Also it absolutely tickles me that you and Garrett T. exist in overlapping orbits! Hope to catch a show this summer! Hello to Margo!
Beautiful track. Thanks
