We made it in a few short bursts over the course of six months, just Dan Galucki on drums, Clara Baker engineering and playing fiddle, and myself on everything else. I’d been playing bass in Margo Cilker’s band, and had a good idea of the layered guitar sounds I wanted, so I just did it myself. It’s the first record I’ve made with ProTools and overdubs.
It was the first time I’d made a record sober. I quit drinking early in ‘23. I got better at editing songs and playing guitar.
I noticed the sleep because for the first time it came easily. I noticed the hunger because it would not cease. I noticed my self, for better and worse. My mind would not stop running. My mind had a mind of its own. But I also noticed my friends, vivid and alive, and accepted their affection for what could have been the first time.
It’s been a ride. Thanks for tagging along.

My reaction upon first listen: “Oh wow, ok, this person really gets it.” This is the real deal, no fluff to be found. Congratulations Forrest
Love the new album!
